A Fine Balance then, was it good? First it was a strange reading experience. Like every author, it was his world and especially its vocabulary - because in addition I have read in English, and I struggled a lot on the caste names or parts of clothing .... But the language is very beautiful, the pace and the story very breath taking - it is good because it's a big book.

So it is a story of upward mobility blocked in India for the years 1970-1980 - it's outdated by the time one side because of it quite AGRÉ able. It was a family of untouchables who has the audacity to challenge conventional caste, to their two tailors son through the providential help of a tailor who cares so Muslim castes. And for a while, even if the proponents of the order to attack them, they succeed quite well their escape. They are gandhiistes, politicized, they get married, build a house ....
