Connelly Addict

My first Connelly was given to me by Don and Mike when they left Paris to California from two boxes of books in English that it took me three years to the locks. It would be wrong to say that I have found that Connelly in this brief history but it will make further posts! My first was Blood Work, a former FBI transplanted heart, finds the murderer of the person who gave his body ... I found it reads well.

The following summer my father read Poet, Connelly the best known, and I told him dive on the beach. Shivering despite the sun. But my real encounter with Connelly is an encounter with his hero Hieronymus (Harry) Bosch, a cop incorruptible, unmanageable, full of suffering and intimate jazz lovers ... and absent Blood Work or Poet. I flashed on the total personal - as said - and I read everything, everything, everything, everything, in French English to have an opinion on the two translators sharing the transcript of Connelly's work in French. To be polite, I recommend the books translated by Jean Esch. When I discovered

Connelly, it was already known of course, but it was not yet become a multinational. Since he does not hide it, I do not see why I would not say it, but Connelly writes longer alone: it has a team of "writers" with him, which explains why it so a book every six months or so. And frankly, some of the latter include The Scarecrow or Closers example, despite the use of Harry Bosch, "left me hungry. It lacks that key psychological loved so much time given to describe this Los Angeles night, jazz music, the symbolism of the crimes or medieval painting ... In short, I had the feeling of reading a synopsis of the book and not a book successful.

Just so cool, I resisted nearly THREE MONTHS purchasing Nine Dragons. .. Just reading the 4th cover: "Repaying year old debt" could cost HIM Everything ... "I was betting that her daughter Maddy was being abducted ... I felt while know and I forbade myself the compulsive buying ... I broke down one night when I returned from Paris where I had an almost desperate need to do anything other than work on the train. I read straight through half the book .... I made it despite all my prejudices ...

So what which means that I allow myself to be? It is the rhythm. There is the relevance with which he describes the female psyche. There is his sense of turnaround. There is also everything that annoys me, huh, valuing justice done alone, the U.S. tropism to the world, etc. ... but hey there, look the question fairly in the face and I am totally left to take. When I finished I did not want to leave his world and so I reread Void Moon - a story without Harry Bosh yet! A woman after 5 years in prison looking for his daughter she abandoned at birth. Realizing that her daughter's adoptive parents want to leave the country, she decides to find a lot of money off her daughter ... except that the job offered to her is part of a very large plot - so big in fact that I would not venture to summarize!

So in both, there are children abducted (girls, Connelly likes its heroes have girls) ... and there the son with no father ... There are heroes seeking redemption ... Here, I think it's there my fascination Connelly, his obsession for the redemption ...

On my bedside table right now, and therefore likely to generate posts a day when the other: Sacred Dennis Lehanne, The last coyote Connelly , of Gypsies January and yoor The laws of economics Tancred car (and it is a novel) ... to see who inspire me first!

Well, it For months I I put A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry in image side but it did not seem to move you ... it is also the months that I've finished. Come on, exit Fine, I'll stick to reality. But

A Fine Balance then, was it good? First it was a strange reading experience. Like every author, it was his world and especially its vocabulary - because in addition I have read in English, and I struggled a lot on the caste names or parts of clothing .... But the language is very beautiful, the pace and the story very breath taking - it is good because it's a big book.

So it is a story of upward mobility blocked in India for the years 1970-1980 - it's outdated by the time one side because of it quite AGRÉ able. It was a family of untouchables who has the audacity to challenge conventional caste, to their two tailors son through the providential help of a tailor who cares so Muslim castes. And for a while, even if the proponents of the order to attack them, they succeed quite well their escape. They are gandhiistes, politicized, they get married, build a house .... But the tradition is catching up with family massacred and the uncle and nephew fled the city. Competition from textile factories are forced to go to Bombay where they work for a woman who tries at all costs to maintain its autonomy by mounting a sweatshop in her home. Her husband was the son of a prominent provincial whose family business has gone downhill. At one point all these actors to meet, they form a kind of blended families and they all believe in a bright future.

And frankly, the book could stop here, but the author wanted to be realistic and it has done its best to destroy everything that each character had done so and read 100 pages of disqualifications parallel, crimes, injustices, eviction and mutilations which are probably realistic but I think I was fairly traumatized ! That is
